In her thirty-four years in education, Judith has been a class teacher, Local Authority Mathematics Consultant, Key Stage 1 leader, Basic Skills Support Officer and Assistant Head Teacher.
Through these roles she has developed a deep love of mathematics in the primary setting. She is passionate about providing children with the opportunities to enjoy and understand mathematics and supporting teachers and schools to make this possible. Her ethos is that everyone can achieve.
As an Every Child Counts Lead Trainer, Judith has a great deal of experience in helping pupils to catch up with their peers. She is an accredited CPD provider for the NCETM. In addition, she has written and co-written development programmes for the South Yorkshire Maths Hub, including a work group on subitising and a course for Teaching Assistants to develop subject knowledge alongside key elements of learning including mindsets, curiosity, language and decision-making.
Judith believes that in order to learn mathematics securely children need to be encouraged to make connections between the practical, the abstract, the pictorial and language. She believes that the skills involved in learning mathematics, such as prediction and generalisation, are key skills and can have a huge impact on the quality of life of pupils.
